How do we design solid tire pattern?
Release Time:2021-08-02

As the only medium for the vehicle to contact the ground, tires shoulder important responsibilities such as load-bearing, braking, and driving safety. When the vehicle is driving on the road, as the only part in contact with the ground, it must not only cross water and mud, but also be able to move forward in the snow and desert. In addition, it is also necessary to create a quiet and comfortable environment.

A. The design idea

The following points need to be paid attention to in the process of solid tire pattern design:

1. The tire pattern will affect the traction and braking force of the vehicle, so the grip of the tire should be considered;

2. After the tire is heated, the performance will change a lot. Colleagues who want to ensure the stability of the tire should also consider the heat dissipation performance;

3. Consider the wear resistance of the tire;

4. Consider reducing noise;

5. Consider comfort.

The above is just a general idea. In fact, many contradictions exist in the design process. Therefore, it is necessary to comprehensively consider the overall performance of the tire to design a suitable tread pattern that meets the needs of users.

B. Consider the tire pattern and physical performance. There are many types of tire patterns, mainly divided into ordinary patterns, off-road patterns and mixed patterns.

1. Ordinary pattern

Ordinary patterns are suitable for driving on asphalt and cement roads, and have good longitudinal and lateral grip performance. Among them, common patterns also have different classifications, namely horizontal patterns, longitudinal patterns and combined horizontal and vertical patterns.

The transverse pattern has good traction and braking force, is resistant to cutting, and has a strong grip, but it has high rolling resistance, high noise, easy side slip, and is not suitable for high-speed driving.

Longitudinal patterns are mostly used in car tires. The pattern has low rolling resistance, low noise, and is not easy to skid. It has good handling performance and driving comfort. However, it has poor braking power and wet stability. The grooves are easy to be embedded in pebbles. Prone to cracking on the bottom.

2. Off-road pattern

Off-road patterns are high-performance driving patterns, which are suitable for relatively uneven roads. There are also two types of off-road patterns, one is directed patterns and the other is undirected patterns.

The anti-skid performance of the directional pattern side is better, and it can be unimpeded on the muddy road.

Undirected patterns are easy to accumulate mud, and the mud discharge performance is relatively poor.

3. Mixed pattern

The mixed pattern is a comprehensive design of the normal pattern and the cross-country pattern. The middle of the tread is a longitudinal pattern, and both sides of the shoulder are horizontal patterns. The mixed pattern takes into account the advantages of the vertical and horizontal patterns, the road adaptability is very strong, and it is more widely used.

The above are the design ideas and design principles that must be considered before tire design. After all aspects have been considered comprehensively, the drawing should be started.

Nowadays, the pattern design is very intelligent, and most of them are realized by the designer using CAD software on the computer. To some extent, various tire companies will also learn from other companies' tire pattern designs. But there is a set of design theories behind the design. However, as mentioned in other answers, tire patterns cannot guarantee all performance at the same time. For tires of different purposes, the patterns also have different design biases.

In response to the different needs of our customers, we have designed a large number of customized tires for our guests, of which tire pattern customization is one of the main aspects. These customized tires play an important role in a variety of very special environments.
